Eurasia Air Spring Solutions for Future Mobility Concepts

Mobility trends such as e-mobility, autonomous driving and increased efficiency pose huge challenges to the entire automotive industry. In addition to the technology implementation, these changes often affect the comfort and convenience of all passengers. New noise, vibration and harshness (NVH) solutions are needed to ensure comfortable, relaxing and safe travel in a future of fuel efficiency, electrification and even autonomous driving.

From autonomous vehicles to shared mobility solutions, automakers need to find new ways to transport people and goods reliably, safely and cost-effectively. This also calls for lighter, more environmentally friendly and more fuel-efficient vehicles. Eurasia Air Springs develops innovative NVH solutions for future mobility concepts of existing and emerging automakers, adding comfort to mobility.

Autonomous Driving
Autonomous vehicles can significantly change the modes of transportation we currently use

The two main causes of NVH problems are excitations from the road surface and excitations from the vehicle’s driveline and auxiliary systems . For internal excitations, Eurasia Air Springs offers a range of advanced mounts and bushings that dampen vibrations transmitted through the axles and body to the seats and steering system. By minimizing the impact of these inputs and isolating vibrations from the passengers, their comfort is significantly improved.

For excitations from the road, switchable air springs are ideal for the transition to autonomous vehicles to keep the vehicle level.

This technology is ideal for the transition from semi-autonomous to fully autonomous light vehicles, giving the best of both worlds. When the driver turns their attention away from actively driving the vehicle, the air springs adjust from a driver-focused setting to a more relaxed and comfortable setting, providing an improved passenger experience.

Research shows that motion sickness is caused by a combination of vestibular and visual sensory inputs. Therefore, watching a movie or reading a book during a car journey can quickly cause or exacerbate feelings of nausea.

Understanding these challenges, Eurasia Air Springs has developed seat air springs that minimize vibrations located at the back of the car seat.

E-mobility
NVH solutions for electric vehicles

E-mobility, whether fully or partially electrified, affects passenger comfort and ride quality. Electric motors generate vibrations in a completely different frequency range at start-up, while combustion engines generate vibrations mainly between 20 and 400 Hz, while electric motors generate vibrations at frequencies of more than 10,000 Hz. Noises and vibrations that have never been heard before become more prominent.

For this reason, we are developing new technologies that make drivers and passengers feel Completely normal sounds and vibrations are suddenly a thing of the past in a battery electric vehicle (BEV) or fuel cell electric vehicle (FCEV).

Our portfolio of innovative NVH solutions includes, for example, specially developed motor mounts and vibration dampers. These are tuned to address and dampen the higher frequency excitations of the electric motors in BEVs and FCEVs, while improving driver and passenger comfort.

On the chassis side, highly rigid chassis mounts address the additional weight and resulting higher loads in an electric vehicle chassis. Air springs not only improve driving comfort and driving dynamics, they also allow the car to be lowered at high speeds to improve aerodynamics and thus increase range. In addition, the technology optimizes the airflow under the car for better passive cooling of the batteries. When parking, the air springs can also automatically raise the car so that there is enough space between the dry ground surface and the battery pack for safety.
